We were greeted by this knight when we visited the Palace of the Grand Master. It really was a fortress where the Knights Templar fortress and the seat of 19 Grand Masters, and the final refuge for Rhodes’ citizens in times of danger. Walking around the palace, I felt like I was on movie set for Robin Hood and not on a sunny island in the Mediterranean.
It has an enormous courtyard with Greek and Roman statues.
The palace also has some well preserved mosaics.
