Mr. B and I have been married for a year but he lives in Houston and I live in Dallas. Long story short, my youngest son is finishing up his senior year in high school while I’m getting my home of 25 years ready to sell – lots of treasures (only in sentimental value) and memories to box up and put away to make room for the move. We will be married for a year before we lived under the same roof. Weird right?
Mr. B and I went on a honeymoon cruise to the Mediterranean. To make it more romantic we went with our friends, why not it was fun. Our first stop was Venice.
These were our chaperones on our honeymoon trip. We loved having the company, especially on a cruise. We also discovered four was a perfect number for private offshore excursions tours. It was raining and flooding but still very charming. Venice is a city unlike any other city in the world. My best travel tip – forget the map just keep walking. You’ll keep getting lost but that’s the beauty of Venice.
St. Mark’s Cathedral is a must-see and makes sure you take the tour that includes an exclusive itinerary of the baptistry and Zen Chapel. According to legend, two merchants smuggled the corpse of St Mark out of Egypt in a barrel of pork fat. You’ll also see the treasures in the tower and have an amazing view of the St. Mark’s Square. It’s a fantastic place to watch all the tourists in the square. If you want to get the perfect photos to go early in the morning when fewer people are there.
We took a Vaporetto to Murano and purchased two Murano sconces, a chandelier and a mirror. I hope they make it safely to their new home, my bathroom. I’ll share them when they arrive in Houston and get installed in my bathroom. I can’t wait.
