We had been to Rome and wanted to see something different so we got a guide who drove us to Bracciano.
The Castello di Bracciano is just outside of Rome and is one of the most impressive castles in Italy. Completed in 1485 by the Orsini family, around an existing 12th century Vico fortress, it is one of the few renaissance castles in Italy that – thanks to the Odescalchi family – is open to the public.
It looks more like a fortress than a castle from the outside but the interior is impressive. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were married there.
Driving around Lake Bracciano were quaint towns filled with flowers and beautiful architecture.
